One of the ways the MSI fulfills its mission is with the annual awarding of scholarships from the David Brodsky, Russell Schofield and Moving and Storage Institute Scholarship Program. Since its inception in 2001, the MSI has awarded dozens of annual scholarships to students interested in pursuing a business career in or related to the household goods moving and storage industry. Scholarships have benefited the children, families and employees of AMSA members throughout the U.S. and they continue to support learning opportunities for the next generation of industry leaders.
In early 2009, the MSI received a generous $50,000 donation from the National Association of Independent Truckers (NAIT), which was used to create an annual $5,000 “NAIT Scholar” award. The MSI then went on to launch four new scholarships for participants in AMSA’s Leaders Program, an intensive course of study designed to prepare mid and senior level managers to assume leadership roles within their company and the industry. The Leaders Program scholarships were designed to benefit employees of small moving and storage companies who might not otherwise be able to participate in the program due to financial constraints. Selection is without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin.
